Where can we make lanterns?
There are a number of free crafting places available on the day between 12-1pm on the day of Sunday 5th at Worthing (booking essential through Eventbrite >> HERE <<). Our creative team will also be working in number of primary schools to make over 500 lanterns from milk bottles. If your school would like to be included please email email@example.com. Our team will also be helping children to make illuminated hats at Worthing Ice Rink when booking skating between 2-3pm the day. Tickets for ice skating should be booked directly at www.worthingicerink.com
Does it cost anything to attend?
The festival is FREE to attend, however we will be raising money on the night so please remember some change and give generously when you see the Lions with their collection buckets. We are aiming to raise £5000, please help us reach our target!
Where does the parade route start and end?
The parade leaves from outside the Pavilion Theatre at 6pm promptly and will end at the main stage on South Street.
Is there a meeting point for lost children?
Lost children will be taken by a pair of Tide of Light marshalls to The Ardington Hotel while the wait to be reunited with their parents or guardians. We highly recommend that all children have a parent’s mobile number with them at all times.
Will there be other entertainment around town on the night?
Absolutely! Our creative team will be visiting a number of primary schools to hold crafting sessions to help children create over 500 lanterns from old milk bottles for the parade. If you would like your school to take part please talk to your headteacher or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to suggest your school.
Will there be food and drink available?
A street food market will be on hand to provide a whole range of choice – plus our sponsors The Beach House and The Corner House, famed around Worthing for their food and drink, will be happy to welcome you! Most street food outlets will take debit cards, but cash points are available in the town centre.
How can I get involved?
What happens if we get bad weather on the night?
Remember, remember it is November – so please wrap up warm and be ready for wind and rain. We are made of strong stuff in Worthing so it is unlikely that a bit of bad weather will stop us. However we will provide updates on the day via our social media pages so if you are unsure, please check.
Where can we park?
We highly recommend walking or cycling into the town wherever possible as parking will be at a premium. The town centre car parks will be open, but will be very busy. We work closely with the council and car parks to make sure that exiting the car parks at the end of the night is as safe and speedy as possible, but do be prepared to queue and wait as the heavy volume of cars all tries to leave the town centre at the same time!
